My Top Ten Favorite Books of 2017 (so far).

Hi guys! I hope you’re all having a woderful time. Any plans for the weekend? Well, I’ll be staying at home over the weekends, watch the second season of How To Get Away With Murder (I just finished the first season few days ago and OMG!) or the fourth season of Sherlock, and of course, read. It’s a perfect weekend, right? 🙂

Anyway, I’m here to share my 2017 top ten favorite books so far. It’s quite hard for me to choose because I read quite a lot of great books this year already. I’ll definitely end up having more than 15 favorite books before this year ends. Haha.

So, here are my favorites so far in no particular order.

2017-favorites-1

A Court of Wings and Ruin
by Sarah J. Maas

The third and final book of A Court of Thorns and Roses. I read ACOTAR first than Throne of Glass and ACOTAR got my full attention. I stopped at Crown of Midnight (ToG 2) and I’m not sure why I’m still not in the mood to continue the series eventhough I have the 3rd and 4th book already. Anyway, I really love the ACOTAR series! I’m not really a super fan of Feyre but I admire her character. I fell in love more with the Inner Circle (especially to Amren and Azriel) and of course, to the High Lord of the Night Court. I’ve found some new favorite characters and I can’t wait to know more about them on the next installments. Yes, there will be a spinoff series featuring the other characters and I really hope that one of them will feature Lucien. He was like 85% absent in this book. / My Rating : 4 out of 5 stars

Salt To The Sea
by Ruta Sepetys

My very first Sepetys read and definitely not my last. This book follows the story of four young individuals each from different countries coming together with one goal – to survive. Gripping and heartwrenching story. I had no knowledge about the sinking of Wilhelm Gustloff so I was shocked when I’ve learned about it. I did quite a lot of research just to learn more about it and it’s probably one of the terrible things I’ve read about. I am confident to say that Sepetys is truly an amazing author/storyteller. I love how she tells the story. The chapters are very short but all of the things that you need to know are there. She doesn’t sugar-coat things. She’s brutally honest which I think is very important. One of my favorites is the author’s note at the end. / My Rating : 4.5 out of 5 stars

Geekerella
by Ashley Poston

„We’re all geeks here!“ I love everything about this book. The modern geeky Cinderella retelling, the humors, fandoms, and the characters including Frank the dog. There were so many relatable things in this book. I laughed, got so upset and shed some tears while reading. So much feels! There were no dull moments and the writing style is superb. This is definitely one of my favorite Cinderella retellings. It’s a very fast and adorable read with unforgettable characters. / My Rating : 4 out of 5 stars

Making Faces
by Amy Harmon

My first Amy Harmon book. This is a heartbreaking, very inspiring and an incredible story of friendship, hope and unconditional love. A story about loss and self-acceptance. I cried so many times while reading this book. I love Harmon’s writing style and the characters are all relatable. I honestly cannot write a decent review for this book because I am getting quite emotional just thinking about the story so go read this book, guys. You will not regret it. / My Rating : 5 out of 5 stars

From Sand And Ash
by Amy Harmon

My second read from Amy Harmon. It’s about the story of two different people meant for each other but were seperated by their religions and the cruelty of war. I love reading historical fiction novels set in WWII and this is definitely one of my favorites. This is a very powerful and emotional read. You can read my full review here. / My Rating : 4.5 out of 5 stars

Who She Was
by Stormy Smith

This was the very first book I’ve read by Stormy Smith and I was very impressed. I wasn’t aware about this book until the author contacted me and sent me an advance copy. There are so much to love about this book. The characters, the setting and the author’s writing style. There are some sensitive issues in this book but in my opinion, the author did an excellent job on handling the subjects. You can read my full review here. / My Rating : 4 out of 5 stars

Milk and Honey
by Rupi Kaur

I knew already that I’ll end up loving milk and honey right after I read the first page. I love everything about this book. The cover, illustrations and words. They’re so perfect. It covers huge topics like rape, love, lost, moving on and feminism. Most of my favorites are from the loving and healing chapters. This book reminds us to love ourselves before anyone or anything else. Such a powerful and inspiring read. I can’t wait for her new book, the sun and her flowers, that will be out on October 3rd. / My Rating : 5 out of 5 stars

Seeds Planted In Concrete
by Bianca Sparacino

I personally love the cover of this book and I was so thrilled when Ms. Bianca asked me if she can send me a copy. This is such a beautiful collection of poetry. Reading the author’s words feels like listening and talking to a friend. This is a perfect read when you’re feeling down and you need something to cheer you up or you need some encouragements. I still re-read some of my favorite entries until now. Very empowering and definitely a must read even if you’re not into poetry. / My Rating : 5 our of 5 stars

Find Her
by Lisa Gardner

A story of a girl who was abducted seven years ago and miraculously survived. I listened to the audiobook version of this and I really enjoyed it. It was my very first from Lisa Gardner so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s very intense, dark and emotional. Read my full review here. / My Rating : 4.5 out of 5 stars

The Hate U Give
by Angie Thomas

I really love this book so much. Starr is a very brave character. She’s not the very first black MC I read but she’s definitely one of my favorites. The other characters felt so real as well and each of them has a very special part in my heart. I love the family dynamics, friendship and even the romance in this book. I love the pacing and the writing style. This book deals with a lot of serious issues in the society and some heavy emotions but I love that the author still managed to balance the story. I enjoyed the humors and the HP references are hilarious. I didn’t give a perfect 5 because I felt a little uncomfortable with the things their saying to Chris (Starr’s bf) which was also quite racist, in my opinion. Overall, I highly recommend this book! THUG made me cry, laugh, angry and most of all, it opened my eyes to a lot of things. It has a very powerful message and we need more books like this. / My Rating : 4.5 out of 5 stars

  1. Hi Kath ! I absolutely loved your post.
