Expected Publication : October 4, 2016
Edition : Hardcover (400 pages)
Publisher : Knopf Books for Young Readers

Book Synopsis
Everyone thinks they know Libby Strout, the girl once dubbed “America’s Fattest Teen.” But no one’s taken the time to look past her weight to get to know who she really is. Following her mom’s death, she’s been picking up the pieces in the privacy of her home, dealing with her heartbroken father and her own grief. Now, Libby’s ready: for high school, for new friends, for love, and for EVERY POSSIBILITY LIFE HAS TO OFFER. In that moment, I know the part I want to play here at MVB High. I want to be the girl who can do anything.

Everyone thinks they know Jack Masselin, too. Yes, he’s got swagger, but he’s also mastered the impossible art of giving people what they want, of fitting in. What no one knows is that Jack has a newly acquired secret: he can’t recognize faces. Even his own brothers are strangers to him. He’s the guy who can re-engineer and rebuild anything in new and bad-ass ways, but he can’t understand what’s going on with the inner workings of his brain. So he tells himself to play it cool: Be charming. Be hilarious. Don’t get too close to anyone.

Until he meets Libby. When the two get tangled up in a cruel high school game—which lands them in group counseling and community service—Libby and Jack are both pissed, and then surprised. Because the more time they spend together, the less alone they feel. . . . Because sometimes when you meet someone, it changes the world, theirs and yours.

Jennifer Niven delivers another poignant, exhilarating love story about finding that person who sees you for who you are—and seeing them right back. x

Why Am I Waiting For This?

Right after finishing All The Bright Places, I promised myself that I’ll buy the next books of Jennifer Niven. I loved everything about ATBP and Niven is one if the nicest author I know even I haven’t met her yet in person. You can find an exclusive excerpt of Holding Up The Universe here. I don’t want to read the excerpt because it will just make me more excited. I don’t even want to read the blurb. All I know is it’s the story of Libby and Jack. And yes, I admit that I am envy with those who have the ARC. 😀 You lucky guys!

Waiting On Wednesday : Sunday’s on the Phone to Monday

25814219Sunday’s on the Phone to Monday
Christine Reilly
Expected Publication: April 5, 2016
Edition: Hardcover (336 pages)
Publisher: Touchstone

The Middlesteins meets The Virgin Suicides in this arresting family love story about the eccentric yet tight knit Simone family, coping with tragedy during 90s New York, struggling to reconnect with each other and heal.

Claudio and Mathilde Simone, once romantic bohemians hopelessly enamored with each other, find themselves nestled in domesticity in New York, running a struggling vinyl record store and parenting three daughters as best they can: Natasha, an overachieving prodigy; sensitive Lucy, with her debilitating heart condition; and Carly, adopted from China and quietly fixated on her true origins.

With prose that is as keen and illuminating as it is whimsical and luminous, debut novelist Christine Reilly tells the unusual love story of this family. Poignant and humane, Sunday’s on the Phone to Monday is a deft exploration of the tender ties that bind families together, even as they threaten to tear them apart.

WHY AM I WAITING FOR THIS?

The lovely Ms. Christine provided me a copy of her debut novel in exchange for an honest review. I gave up and read the synopsis. I haven’t read The Middlesteins nor The Virgin Suicides so I’m still not sure what to expect. I’m just glad that the synopsis is not that detailed. I don’t really like detailed synopsis because it affects my reading experience, a lot. I’m planning to read this next week and I’m excited. ♥

Waiting On Wednesday : Wink Poppy Midnight

23203106WINK POPPY MIDNIGHT
BY APRIL GENEVIEVE TUCHOLKE
Expected Publication: March 22, 2016

Edition: Hardcover (352 pages)
Publisher: Dial Books

Every story needs a hero.
Every story needs a villain.
Every story needs a secret.

Wink is the odd, mysterious neighbor girl, wild red hair and freckles. Poppy is the blond bully and the beautiful, manipulative high school queen bee. Midnight is the sweet, uncertain boy caught between them. Wink. Poppy. Midnight. Two girls. One boy. Three voices that burst onto the page in short, sharp, bewitching chapters, and spiral swiftly and inexorably toward something terrible or tricky or tremendous.

What really happened?
Someone knows.
Someone is lying.

Why Am I Waiting For This?

I first saw this on Goodreads and it caught my attention. I haven’t read any of April Genevieve Tucholke’s books so I’m not sure if i would love this one. The synopsis is intriguing and the cover is lovely. I’ve read an exclusive excerpt online and it made me want to read more.

When the mysterious fog of the Ruining crept over the world, the living died and the dead rose. Only the walled city of Viyara was left untouched.

The heirs of the city’s most powerful—and warring—families, Mahyanai Romeo and Juliet Catresou share a love deeper than duty, honor, even life itself. But the magic laid on Juliet at birth compels her to punish the enemies of her clan—and Romeo has just killed her cousin Tybalt. Which means he must die.

Paris Catresou has always wanted to serve his family by guarding Juliet. But when his ward tries to escape her fate, magic goes terribly wrong—killing her and leaving Paris bound to Romeo. If he wants to discover the truth of what happened, Paris must delve deep into the city, ally with his worst enemy . . . and perhaps turn against his own clan.

Mahyanai Runajo just wants to protect her city—but she’s the only one who believes it’s in peril. In her desperate hunt for information, she accidentally pulls Juliet from the mouth of death—and finds herself bound to the bitter, angry girl. Runajo quickly discovers Juliet might be the one person who can help her recover the secret to saving Viyara.

Both pairs will find friendship where they least expect it. Both will find that Viyara holds more secrets and dangers than anyone ever expected. And outside the walls, death is waiting.

I love Romeo and Juliet and this retelling looks interesting. Plus, the cover is gorgeous. ♥

Why Am I Waiting?

Look at that pretty cover! I read my first V.E. Schwab’s book (A Darker Shade of Magic) last month and I loved it. She instantly became one of my favorite authors. Her writing style is astounding, same as the world-building and characters. The second book of ADSOM will be released next month and I’m so excited for it.

Have you read any books from V.E. Schwab? What are your favorites?

A Gathering of Shadows FinalA GATHERING OF SHADOWS
by V.E. Schwab
Expected Publication: February 23, 2016
SERIES : A Darker Shade of Magic #2
AUTHOR : V.E. Schwab
EDITION : HARDCOVER (512 PAGES)
PUBLISHER : Tor

Four months have passed since the shadow stone fell into Kell’s possession. Four months since his path crossed with Delilah Bard. Four months since Rhy was wounded and the Dane twins fell, and the stone was cast with Holland’s dying body through the rift, and into Black London.

In many ways, things have almost returned to normal, though Rhy is more sober, and Kell is now plagued by his guilt. Restless, and having given up smuggling, Kell is visited by dreams of ominous magical events, waking only to think of Lila, who disappeared from the docks like she always meant to do. As Red London finalizes preparations for the Element Games—an extravagant international competition of magic, meant to entertain and keep healthy the ties between neighboring countries—a certain pirate ship draws closer, carrying old friends back into port.

But while Red London is caught up in the pageantry and thrills of the Games, another London is coming back to life, and those who were thought to be forever gone have returned. After all, a shadow that was gone in the night reappears in the morning, and so it seems Black London has risen again—meaning that another London must fall.

I haven’t read my copy of A Darker Shade of Magic but I am so excited for this.
