Happy New Year! ♥

I know i’m 4 days late but wth. I’m here to share with you my top ten favorite reads in 2016. I read so many great books last year but these ten are my absolute favorites (in no particular order).

A Gathering of Shadows
by V.E. Schwab

The sequel to A Darker Shader Shade of Magic (which is also one of my all-time favorite books). Things have almost returned to normal after the terrible incidents in Red London four months ago. Everyone is gearing up for the Essen Tasch – an extravagant international competition of magic, meant to entertain and keep healthy the ties between neighboring countries. Ships sailed from different places to join the competition and bringing some old friends as well. AGOS introduces us to new (and even old) amazing characters and exciting events. We get to learn more about the other Londons (especially the Black London). The story, setting, characters and writing style are all perfect. I love Lila Bard so much and that cliffhanger is killing me. My Rating : 4.5 / 5

A Court of Mist and Fury
by Sarah J. Maas

Oh my Cauldron where do I begin? Oh I know. Let’s start with the High Lord of the Night Court! ♥ Kidding! But seriously. When I hear ACOMAF, Rhysand is all I can think about. I know i’m not the only one. New characters were introduced in ACOMAF and they’re all fierce, witty and amazing. I have to admit that Feyre can be annoying and stubborn sometimes but I really admire her determination and bravery. She really transformed into a badass faerie. I can’t wait for the 3rd book and I’m hoping for more Rhysand POV. One is not enough. My Rating : 5 /5

The Graveyard Book
by Neil Gaiman

A story of a boy who grew up in a graveyard and was raised by ghosts and other cemetery „residences“. I enjoyed reading Bod’s adventures in and outside the graveyard. He’s a very likable character. The concept is marvelous as well as the writing. I didn’t have any idea what the story is all about and that this is a children’s book (with that intro?). This book is not only for young readers, even adult readers like me can definitely enjoy the story. My Rating : 4.5 / 5

Eternal Darkness
by J.F. Johns

A copy of this book was sent to me by the author herself and I’m so grateful to have read this awesome book! I didn’t expect that I will end up loving this book so much. The story is about humans and cyborg. Scarlet, the main character, is neither of the two. I love the descriptive writing style and I’m looking forward to learn more about the world the author has created. I also found my new book boyfriend in this book! If you love The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer (like me) then i’m pretty sure that you’ll love this book. Read my full review. My Rating : 4.5 / 5

A Monster Calls
by Patrick Ness

My first Patrick Ness book! Wow! I can still feel all the emotions that I felt while reading a year ago. A Monster Calls is a story of a 13-year old boy named Conor. He is going through a rough time. His mother has cancer and he is having consistent nightmares since his mother started her treatments. One night, he wakes up to find a monster outside his bedroom window. The monster is there to tell Conor three tales and Conor must tell the fourth. He doesn’t know if the monster is real or not but one thing is for sure, the monster wants to know Connor’s true story. Read my full review. My Reading : 4.5 / 5

I’ll Give You the Sun
by Jandy Nelson

Clark effin‘ Gable! This is one of the most beautiful (inside and out) books I’ve read. Nelson’s writing is style brilliant. This is more than just a story of Jude and her twin brother, Noah. The characters are all amazing. Their imperfections make them so unique and relatable that you will love each and every one of them. I adore the relationship of Noah and Jude. They fight and do mean (bad) things to each other but deep inside they know that they cannot live without the other. The writing is brilliant and captivating. I remember telling Joyce that every word in this book is beautiful, including the grammar articles. Maybe I’m over-reacting but it really feels like that. I also love the art theme in the story and the art on the pages of the book. I like how everything unravels towards the end of the story and I also like how it ends. My Rating : 5 / 5

Me Before You
by Jojo Moyes

This was my first Jojo Moyes book. I was warned that this book will destroy me and it did. So many feels! I like Lou’s character very much. This book made me think about the issue as well and where do I stand on it. I watched the movie adaptation and bawled my eyes out. Emilia Clark and Sam Claflin were so perfect. Read my full review. Joe fvcking Goldberg! You will love or hate him because of the things that he does. In my case, I loved him. He is funny, romantic and will do everything for the woman he loves. But he is a sick psycho stalker and a murderer . He does insane things. He is so messed up and so is this book (in a good way). The writing style is amazing. I have to admit that I can relate to him in some ways and most of the time, I agree with him. I listened to the audiobook while reading and *hands down* to Santino Fontana. One of the best narration I’ve ever listened to. My Rating : 4.5 / 5

All the Good Parts

First, I’d like to thank Michelle of Once Upon A Book Club Box for sending me their November Box. I wouldn’t know about this book if it wasn’t for her. All The Good Parts was their book for the month of November. I’m still planning on posting a full review of this book so I’ll make this one short. The main character, Leona, is thiry nine and still single. She’s contented with her life as Auntie Lee to her sister’s kids until she visits her gynecologist. Her doctor tells her that if she wants to have a baby, she’ll better have it now. She wants to have a baby but the problem is, she doesn’t have any special guy in her life. This is a very fun and engaging story. I can personally relate to Leona especially with her list of pros/cons of having a baby. The secondary characters are hilarious too. They are all relatable. I loved the author’s style of writing. It’s easy to read but still astounding. Plus, the plot twist! Wow. I didn’t see that one coming. I really enjoy this book so much and I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a quick, light and incredible read. My Rating : 4.5 / 5

A List of Cages
by Robin Roe

I got pre-approved for an eARC of this book in Netgalley. This is a very powerful debut novel! A story of two incredible boys that will surely break your heart into pieces. But don’t worry, it’s totally worth it. It reminds me of Olaf (Frozen movie). This book is „worth melting for“. This book tells us the real meaning of friendship, unconditional love and a lot more. Read my full review here. My Rating : 4.5 / 5

Special Mentions

It Ends With Us
by Colleen Hoover (Audiobook)

I’m not sure how to write a review of this book without giving any spoilers so I’ll make it short. I don’t read book descriptions so I had no idea what the story was all about. I just randomly picked this one and started listening to it. I got hooked. I actually listened to the audibook twice. I love Lily’s character. She smart, funny, strong and dedicated. Her full name is just meh. Ryle reminds me of Miles (Ugly Love). Hot and gorgeous but broken inside. I feel sad for him and angry at the same time. Atlas! I love him from the start until the end. This book was based on a real story which makes it more special and personal. Great story with powerful and moving message. This is now my number one Colleen Hoover book.  My Rating : 4.5 / 5

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them (The Original Screenplay)
by JK Rowling

Look how gorgeous the cover is! The details are on point. But wait until you see the inside. By the way, I have a confession to make. I haven’t watch the movie yet. IKR?! I’ve decided to just wait for the Blu-Ray to come out. Now back to the screenplay. It introduces us to Newt Scamander, a Magizoologist, who travels the world with his suitcase full of magical creatures. I enjoyed this screenplay so much more than The Cursed Child (regarding with the plot and scripts/dialogues) and the cast is absolutely amazing! From Newt to the no-maj Jacob. It’s not that detailed but it’s still easy to picture out the scenes in my head. I loved all the beasts and they’re all indeed fantastic! This is no doubt a J.K. Rowling’s work. My Rating : 4.5 / 5
